My wife and I are snowbirds that winter in SoCal but mostly live in Putnam County, NY. This year, because of the coronavirus, we decided to stay in SoCal because we were having a baby in April. That baby is now here and we want to get back home to New York because our families are in the northeast. The question is how to do it safely. Should we fly or drive? 1) There's a direct flight from Palm Springs to JFK where the seats are fairly cheap ($162). I could buy a block of 10 or so seats for the three of us for under $2K but I fear that may leave us too exposed to someone shedding on the flight. 2) We could drive back. This would require us to stay in hotels, eat in restaurants etc, but I think the possible exposure there is much less. However, driving across the country has its own dangers (i.e. accidents). Any advice here would be greatly appreciated!
